Since its mysterious disappearance a decade ago, the Octave Clang has returned to the Queens, New York workshop of Death By Audio.
A more complete and controllable V2
Building on the first iteration of its Octave Clang, an analog octave ring / distortion pedal, Death By Audio has added features and buttons for total mastery and control of the effect. Compared to the initial 2009 version, the V2 has an additional Octave switch, allowing you to explore the sound with or without the Octave effect (i.e. an octave up / ring). The V2 uses a special transformer and precision diodes to generate rich harmonics and a pure analog octave.
Octave Clang controls and features
- Bypass (left button): Activates and deactivates the pedal (red LED).
- Octave (right button): Activates and deactivates Octave Up mode (yellow LED).
- Volume : Controls the output level, ranging from total silence to extreme power, propelling your system into overdrive when set above normal volume.
- Gain: Sets the gain of the Octave Clang, providing up to +39dB of gain (!!).
- Tone: powerful EQ before gain, adjusting the amount of high and low frequencies in the rest of the circuit.
- Bias (in-pedal adjustment): Adjusts the bias of the distortion circuit (adjusting the voltage or current in the pedal) for a rougher sound.
