The sound of David Gilmour in one pedal? Crazy Tube Circuits launches its new Hi Power pedal

If you’re looking for a new sound experience, the “HI POWER” pedal from Crazy Tube Circuits could well be your next favorite. This latest creation from the brand promises to transport guitarists into the iconic sound universe of Pink Floyd, influenced in particular by the iconic album “Wish You Were Here.”

The fusion of two legends of British sound

The “HI POWER” presents itself as a bold fusion of two British tonal machines that helped shape Pink Floyd’s signature sound:

On one side (right), you’ll find a faithful reproduction of the Colorsound Power Boost, equipped with BC184 transistors to the original specification, operating at 18V DC thanks to an internal voltage booster circuit. The addition of features such as a bypassable master volume control, a gain control with inverted logarithmic response and a switch to activate the higher-gain/less headroom version of the original boost circuit, called “Overdriver,” guarantees maximum flexibility for sculpting your sound.

On the other side of the “HI POWER” (left) you’ll find a fully analog circuit designed to emulate the sound and feel of a Hiwatt amp. Following in the footsteps of this famous British tube amplifier, this circuit offers authentic tonality ranging from clean, full tones to saturated, punchy tones. By integrating a full EQ section with a presence control located in the negative feedback loop of the amp’s simulation circuit, the pedal offers a rich and versatile sonic palette.

The meticulous details don’t stop there…

The “HI POWER” offers total control over your sound , with a switch for selecting input channels, offering different frequency responses and gain levels. A remarkable feature is the inclusion of a passive effects loop, allowing you to connect your favorite pedals between the booster/overdrive and the amplifier section, or use them independently via an external switch/looper.

Crazy Tube Circuits has also integrated a clever bypass/engagement preset function on power-up. This function lets you choose the state the pedal will be in when switched on, which is particularly useful for those using remote pedal switches/drivers, simplifying the set-up process.
