A story of passion
Before the term “boutique” became popular in the world of musical gear, there was a buzz of activity in every corner of the globe, spurred on by the advent of the Internet and the ability to share information freely. Guitarists began to look back in order to move forward, combining tried-and-tested approaches to pedal making with avant-garde ideas. The Pacific Northwest’s answer to this movement was Catalinbread, born in 2003 on Nic Harris’s kitchen table.
After producing the Super Chili Picoso, the first Catalinbread-stamped pedal exclusively for ToneFactor, a Seattle-based guitar store, sales of this pedal financed bolder designs. Since then, the company has produced over 30 unique pedals, hand-built one by one.
