Crazy Tube Circuits presents the Venus, a tube overdrive pedal inspired by the renowned BK Butler Tube Driver. Designed to offer a wide tonal palette, it provides light, dynamic overdrive as well as more advanced distortion.
An ECC832 lamp at the heart of the circuit
The Venus is equipped with an ECC832 lamp, a combination of an ECC83 (12AX7) and an ECC82 (12AU7). This choice aims to retain the sonic character of the original model while optimizing clarity and note separation.
Various lamps can be substituted to modify the sound response, including ECC83, ECC82, ECC81, 5751 or 12AY7.
Bias control
A Bias control adjusts the tube’s behavior. By modifying it, you can move from a compact, saturated sound to a softer, more fluid saturation, offering greater flexibility in sound expression.
3-band EQ
Three-band equalization (Hi, Mid, Lo) lets you adjust the sound to suit the user’s preferences. The mids control allows the pedal to be adapted to different amps and configurations.

Switch Tight
A “Tight” switch adjusts bass response before the tube gain stage. When activated, it tightens the bass and low-mids, while when deactivated, it leaves the sound fuller and more open.
Buffer/booster can be activated
A “Line Driver” switch activates an output buffer/booster. This preserves signal frequencies and ensures optimum transmission, particularly useful with long cables or multiple effects in a chain.
Note that the Venus uses a standard 9V DC power supply (500mA), with an internal circuit raising the voltage to +/-15V to optimize lamp operation.
