Beetronics FX has STILL unveiled a new nugget: the Larva Morphing Phaser.
Let’s discover this 6-stage analog phaser (6 filters) that promises to transform your approach to modulation effects thanks to its unique features and original design by Beetronics.
A 100% analog pedal with 3 modes/functions: classic phaser, univibe and preamp
At the heart of the Larva is a 100% analog circuit, a guarantee of sonic warmth and depth. This pedal can be used as a classic phaser, but also with a Univibe-type effect, i.e. adding vintage textures reminiscent of the Univibes of the 60s.
In homage to Moog’s famous Moogerfooger pedals, Beetronics has integrated an analog preamp into the Larva (which could almost justify buying it just for that!), which can even be activated on its own. This enriches phase and vibe sounds with a subtle warmth or, depending on your settings, a power that’s ideal for leads/solos. With the Gain setting, you can even get close to a nice, warm overdrive! This rather original feature for a modulation pedal suggests the idea of putting it at the beginning of your pedalboard chain , so as to encompass the sounds and effects that come later.
A “Morphing phaser”, WTF?!
But Beetronics doesn’t stop there: by combining this analog base with a rather unique feature: “dual preset morphing”. This feature allows you to create a more or less fluid and dynamic transition between several pedal modes/settings. So you can switch from one phaser preset to another.
The Ramp knob adjusts the speed of morphing, while the Shape switch lets you choose the transition curve, from gentle to more abrupt.
The tap tempo button controls both the main phaser and, when left pressed, “morphs” your 2 effects .
And, as usual with Beetronics, the pedal’s design is particularly sophisticated. The Larva not only shines in sound, but also includes creeping LEDs to visualize expression movements and transitions between presets.
