PFX Circuits launches its NERO

Founded by electro musician, composer and producer Philippe Gaulier, PFX Circuits is a French brand of hand-designed and hand-built effects pedals .

PFX Circuits’ philosophy is based on high-quality components, such as WIMA German film capacitors, selected semiconductors and Alpha potentiometers.

The Nero: a versatile high-gain preamp

The Nero is the latest addition to the Julius / Brutus trilogy. Inspired by the Diezel VH4, Soldano SLO-100, Revv G120 and ENGL Powerball, it offers remarkable power and versatility.

Unlike its predecessors (the Julius and the Brutus), based respectively on the Marshall JTM45 and JCM800 sounds, the Nero takes a more aggressive turn, promising a sound experience certainly more suited to metal fans.

Featuring NOS LEDs, it offers intuitive settings (Gain, Hi-Cut, Contour, Output) for a personalized sound experience:

  • Gain: Control the saturation level to move from mid-gain to more powerful sound textures.
  • Hi-Cut : A high-cut filter allowing you to modulate the treble according to your preferences, similar to the FILTER on a RAT.
  • Contour : Adjust the color of your sound by sculpting the midrange for a unique sonority.
  • Output: Adjusts the pedal’s output level for perfect integration into your setup.

With the option of powering the pedal from 9 to 18 volts, guitarists will have the opportunity to explore a wide dynamic range and maximize the headroom to suit their preferences.
