And yes, you read that right! Anasounds, a much-loved French brand, and Jack White have just unveiled their collaboration on a new pedal: La Grotte.
Jack White, known for his unconditional love of quality gear, has always been on the lookout for new sounds. After being seduced by Anasounds’ Element pedal, he approached the French brand to develop a custom spring reverb for his Third Man Hardware brand.
La grotte, a reverb by Jack White!
The Grotte is much more than just a reverb pedal. It combines a high headroom preamp, based on Tampco’s Tone Oven, with a three-spring reverb, offering some pretty cool sonic depth. This configuration creates a spongy, bright and natural reverberation, capable of adapting to both classic surf/garage sounds and more modern sonorities.
La Grotte’s settings reflect the direct influence of Jack White. Unlike many reverbs that offer simple mix control, La Grotte offers two separate volumes for the original signal (Dry) and the processed signal (Wet). This allows perfect control of the effect, for a sound result perfectly adapted to your needs. What’s more, a two-band EQ, dedicated exclusively to the reverb, lets you adjust the bass and treble to sculpt the sound with surgical precision.
A trimpot in the pedal also lets you modify the gain (and booster!!), opening the door to a multitude of sonic nuances. The Grotte is also equipped with small switches for choosing between True Bypass or Buffered Bypass with Trails, as well as enabling or disabling a Fade In effect to avoid unwanted noise when activating the pedal on stage.
